What to Expect
Tour Schedule Details

An excursion to Château Purcari is a journey to the oldest and most historically celebrated wine estate in Moldova. Located in the rolling hills of the Ştefan Vodă region near the Dniester River and just 50 km from the Black Sea, it offers a highly professional and immersive oenological experience.

What to Expect on a Tour
A standard guided tour lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours and is structured logically through the winemaking timeline:
  • The Industrial & Production Zones: You will first walk through the modern grape processing divisions and see the bottling line. Guides detail how they balance ancient traditions with state-of-the-art oenological technology.
  • The Historic Cellars: Moving underground, you will explore historical limestone cellars dating back to 1827. The atmospheric brick tunnels are lined with grand French oak barrels where the heavy reds age.
  • The National Heritage Collection:

This is a two day tour with a stop over for the night at a family-run home restaurant and rural tourism project located in the countryside village of Carahasani, Ștefan Vodă District.

Owners: Natalia Golban (with 18 years of cooking experience in Italy and Moldova) and Matteo Simone (with 30 years of experience in tourism, hotellerie, and events) invite you to discover the real Moldova in a rural setting.

Farm & Livestock Activities
  • Milking a cow: Guests can actively participate in morning or evening farm chores by learning how to milk a cow first-hand.
  • Fresh milk & cheese tasting: Directly following the farm work, you can sample raw milk and freshly made traditional cheeses right on the property.
  • Meet the Maremma sheepdogs: The hosts breed authentic Maremma-Abruzzese sheepdogs, allowing guests to interact with these classic working livestock guardian dogs.

Culinary Masterclasses
  • Bread making: Learn the art of kneading and baking traditional Moldovan bread from scratch.
  • Local recipes: Roll up your sleeves alongside Natalia for private masterclasses on regional specialties, including the technique behind pulling paper-thin dough for plăcinte or filling colțunași. [1]

Village Transport & Nature Exploration
  • Wooden cart rides: Take a tour through the dirt roads of Carahasani village in a classic horse-drawn Moldovan wooden cart.
