Discover authentic real Moldovan culture on this great food tour that takes you from the oldest market in Chisinau where you can taste some Moldovan food. After this we will move on to our host who will have laid a table of traditional Moldovan food for you to enjoy. Tuck into a traditional home cooked meal of authentic Moldovan dishes and chat with your hosts about their life in Moldova feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Afterwards you will have fond memories of your trip to Moldova and can tell your friends back home you had dinner with a Moldovan family.
Once you meet your local Chisinau guide, we’ll head off to explore the oldest food market in Chisinau. Here you’ll get your first lesson in Moldova food culture as you browse the variety of local products on sale. Ever heard of salo? Well, it’s pork fat, and trust us, it’s one of the tastiest treats in the Moldovan diet. (Note that any snacks you want to try in the market, including salo, are not included in the tour price.)
From there we’ll take a taxi into a modern residential quarter, where we’ll visit with hospitable Moldovan locals in their own home.
We’ll share a traditional dinner, desserts, and drinks like vodka and kvass (a fermented rye-based beverage) or other drinks. If any of the dishes have your taste buds wanting more, don’t worry — we’ll send you home with recipes of the dishes so you can recreate them for your friends and family.
We’ll spend the evening in a warm atmosphere, eating and chatting with locals, and you’ll come away with fond memories of your tour. You are welcome to take photos at the dinner party.
Inclusions: Local English-speaking guide, dinner and drinks at a local home.
Exclusions: Food and drinks in the market, souvenirs and personal shopping, tips/gratuities for your guide.
Your Trip: For this experience please note there is a min of two per booking.

Child Policy: This is a child-friendly tour. Children between the ages of 6 and 11 inclusively are permitted on this tour at the rate listed above. Please select ‘child’ above when booking. Children under the age of 6 are permitted to join this tour free of charge. Please inform us at the time of booking if you’ll be bringing a child under the age of 6. You can do so in the special request box on the checkout page.

There is no single supplement surcharge for single travellers as this is a private tour. The more travelers in your private group the bigger the discount for the private tour.

In the event of bad weather forecast we will contact you the day before and offer you either a refund or an amended tour for the following day.
We always advice to wear suitable clothing for the day of the tour as not every day is guaranteed sunshine.
Our guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel or outside your apartment.
